I used to get hangry. But since I’ve gone keto, and hardly even get hungry (and never hangry) anymore. It was the most striking thing I noticed when I gave up carbohydrates (even more than the fifty pounds I lost). I’m only speculating, but I think the problem lies in the fact that carbs don’t provide true satiety. They fill your stomach, and you feel full (until your stomach empties), but your body doesn’t count them as real food. Carbs don’t trigger the satiety hormones like proteins and fats do. And I think hanger is just a by-product of not feeling that satiety. I also practice time-restricted feeding (a type of intermittent fasting) and daily go without food for anywhere from 14 to 18 hours. Before keto, I would’ve made the Hulk look like a puppy dog trying to go this long without food. Now, it’s no problem at all.
