One of the main features of IF is that it lowers your insulin levels. When insulin is present in the bloodstream, the body cannot burn fat for fuel. And, if coupled with a ketogenic diet, IF is extremely easy to stick to. It further reduces levels of insulin, the result of which is a dramatic decrease in hunger. I combine keto with IF and eat two meals a day in an eight-hour period, and I’m less hungry than when I ate carbs all day long. The placebo effect is not the reason that IF works. It works because it allows your body chemistry (through lower levels of insulin) to work more efficiently at burning energy rather than storing it as fat.
